Sissy Piana is a Greek-French sculptor and painter. He was born in Volos, Magnesia, where he finished high school. He graduated from the School of Fine Arts in Marseille. He is the creator of busts of personalities, such as the bust of the French writer Michel Tournier, acquired from the city of Choisel-Paris, where the author of the Rolling Stones lived, acquired from the Stones fun museum of Lüchow, Germany, by Mikis Theodorakis , by Maria Callas, which is part of the exhibition, dedicated to the diva at the Theocharakis Foundation (May 15-October 29, 2017).
She has exhibited her work in France, Greece and Germany while collaborating with Atelier “PetitChantier” for over ten years, actively participating in the design and creation of Sets for various theaters, operas and events such as the Marseille National Opera, the National Theater. La Criée, the Poitou – Charente National Theater, the Stade de France and the Paris Fashion Museum (Sylvie Vartan), the Avignon Festival, etc. collaborating with many artists and celebrities such as Henri Alekan.
He also co-directed the set for movies and TV series (The Horseman on the Roof, the Héritiers, etc.).
Since 1993 she has been the exclusive sculptor for Manex, France – Display New York and one of the most famous and historic companies for bust and mannequin makers, Stockman. Creates prototypes, mannequins, busts, heads, trunks and accessories for major brands prêt-à-porter and haute couture (Christian Dior, Louis Vuitton, Boucheron, Calvin Klein, Benetton, GAP…) and for cultural and fashion institutions (Adapted for a costume exhibition from the Louvre Museum, needlework busts with Emmanuel Bossuet at Bon Marché, Chanel fall-winter 2016-2017 show, etc.)
Since the end of 2015, Sissy Piana invites us to her private world and tries to create unique pieces. Realistic human-sized busts of musicians, actors and writers who accompanied and inspired her throughout her life. In just one year, he presents a whole collection of unusual faces, with sensitive and precise expressions.
During each creation, Sissy coexists and communicates with her subject in order to express from the material of the work all her admiration and familiar feelings for each of these personalities. Through this work she creates a human network, as she shares her passion with the fans, relatives of the people she pays tribute to and some of these personalities personally (Mikis Theodorakis, MichelTournier,…).
In early 2016, the Stones Fan Museum in Lüchow, Germany commissioned a series of Rolling Stones busts, and the municipality of Choisel, France commissioned a bust of author Michel Tournier after his death, which saddened his fans. From the creation of clay or plasticine to the resin or plaster, by casting, Sissy creates exclusively every piece of her collection. Each completed project is a unique piece.
