On November 20, the Hellenic Institute of Cultural Diplomacy in collaboration with the Gallery of Creators and under the auspices of the NPDD Culture and Sports “Dimitrios Vikelas” of the Municipality of Kifissia, organized an event entitled: “How man built the first mechanical universe.”
Mr. Xenophon Moussas, Professor of Space Physics at EKPA and member of the academic council of the institute, on the occasion of World Philosophy Day, dedicated his speech to the Antikythera Mechanism. Mr. Mousas presented to the Greek public the construction and operation of the mechanism, while the discussion focused on the use of the mechanism as a symbol of cultural reference and promotion of Greece throughout the world.

People filled the Gallery of Creators and responded to the charitable nature of the event, offering food instead of a ticket, in the social grocery of the Municipality of Kifissia. Mr. Moussa’s speech highlighted not only the scientific avant-garde and technical perfection of the Antikythera Mechanism, but also its modern importance as a symbol that reflects internationally the ancient Greek way of thinking and acting.
