It is especially important to think about the future, to start seeing ourselves in the perspective of time. In an age of great change, the crucial thing is to be able to think of ourselves within history without the latter constantly overtaking us. The perspective of the future must begin to occupy public debate as seriously as the nostalgia for our rich past.
