Michail S. Chondrogiannis was born in Corfu in 1972. He holds a PhD from the Department of Foreign Languages, Translation and Interpreting of the Ionian University, with a dissertation examining anti-money laundering and counter-terrorist financing compliance as a sustainability factor in the tourism industry. He also holds an MBA with a specialization in Financial Management from the University of Macedonia and a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from the University of Piraeus.
Since July 2025, he has served as Deputy Mayor of Education and Municipal Property at the Municipality of Central Corfu and Diapontian Islands. Since 2019, he has been the founder of the consulting firm Synesis Strategic Advisors, while he has also lectured at the Ionian University, Department of Informatics, teaching the courses Strategic Management of Information Systems and Organization and Business Administration. Previously, he was a researcher at the Geolab Institute of the Ionian University, where he taught Introduction to Economics and International Economic Relations and Economic Crime.
His professional career includes extensive experience in the banking sector, holding managerial and executive positions at Attica Bank, Aspis Bank, and Piraeus Bank. His professional interests include business relationship management, credit risk analysis, leadership of teams in strategically significant projects, as well as oversight of business collections and credit approval processes.
His research focuses on reputation management in tourism, ethical tourism, the impacts of the sharing economy (Airbnb), and issues such as insurance fraud and unethical review practices in the hospitality industry. He has published articles in international Springer editions and has participated as a speaker in international conferences, including the Yellow Tourism Conference and ICSIMAT.
He is fluent in English and has a very good command of Italian. He also holds a wide range of professional certifications, including certifications from the Bank of Greece and the Hellenic Capital Market Commission on investment products and financial instrument analysis, as well as accreditation as a Certified Mediator by the Hellenic Ministry of Justice.
